Drip, Drop

Drip, stolid is the heart that waits
Drop, for the unknown, at any hour
Drip, prayer and fasting opens gate
Drop, and prepares the grass to be a flower

Tap, another day to see and seek
Tap, time runs steadily and sure
More taps make our hearts more meek
A humble tap for the humble pure

Go Plant the Seeds

Go plant the seeds, plant them in the earth
Go spread the word, show the world rebirth
Go and fish for men, feeding all the poor
Go to those who seek, and open up the door

Pour forth the water, baptize all the nations
Pour forth the fire, the Spirit’s animations
Pour forth the light, the darkness shrinks away
Pour forth your blood and sweat, work for God and pray

Fearful Riddle

You panic at the start of my sound. Where?!
You feel my end at the last of your gasp
I strike fear into bird, human, and bear
A venom that has your heart in my grasp
What am I?

Light

When my soul goes darkest
It stands right before the dawn
Waiting for the strongest light
To be reborn

Memorial Day

Left, the soldier walks against the enemy
Left, he fights the foes for his country
Left, right, left, now he sleeps eternally

Left, enduring jungle steam or sandy ground
Left, battle cry when peace at last he has found
Left, right, left, six feet underground

Left, a love for country and a love for God
Left, fortitude inspired steps they plod
Left, right, left, our soldiers, in heaven, awed

I Thirst for Fire

I thirst for fire
To burn the mire
I've fallen in
Because of sin

Will you sing for me?

Will you sing for me sweet bird
Who enjoys the holy flight
Will you shine for me sweet star
Giving holy light
Will you speak for me sweet wind
O sanctifying breath
O Advocate will you bless me
And grant me a holy death

Anger

As I enter the center
The running of the flame
My soul burns a deadening red
The color of my shame

As I left bereft
Of peaceful healing balm
Anger has gone ‘gainst dawn
I laid my burning palm

Rage that burns up the light
Shrouding my soul in the night

Banking on this Riddle

In my spare time I create two banks
With proceeds I proceed to erode
I steal, I destroy what I give, as thanks
Held up, settled down, in my dam abode
What am I?

Welled Wish

A line, a dash for money splash
And splish a watered wish
Was won with ferocious fun
Coined fine, pence flew in a line

Red Signal

A flashing red signal fluttering by
Orange mixed with black against a blue sky
The soft whispers of wings murmuring on
Flying flowers fade fast, they float and are gone

The color of green from highest canopy
Wind rustles, stills
Life slowly wild and firmly free
Grows slower and higher than we
Without any frills

Scent of water that clings to the ground
Those standing, listening, and freely bound

Divided in thoughts I lie
Destroyed by my sin
I repent to the awful light
And ask it to enter in

The Mansion is in Disrepair

The mansion is in disrepair
This edifice of soul
Has become a shrouded lair
Fallen and not whole

The stone which I did not accept
As my cornerstone
In full integrity is kept
And in strength enthroned

The heaven’s darken as they weep
From this foolish builder
My rejection, yes its price is steep
My steeple is off-kilter

Is it too late to fix my house
My psychic edifice?
May I still humbly as a mouse
All my sins confess?

I ask to accept this heavy stone
And bravely move it not
And with great care, and patience grown
Build with all I’ve got

How Grandiose and Close

How grandiose and close
When I look through you
Are the things both graced and gross
Giving me a clue

I deduce this puce
Upon this fancy fan
Will prove that the noose
Is what awaits this man

A Wall is There

A wall is there, a wall so tall
A foolish man thought it purposeful
To climb that wall that is there so tall
The wise shepherd entered through the door

The sheep are there, they graze and sleep
A foolish man thought he could take them cheap
They all ran away, though half-asleep
The wise shepherd calms those that weep

I am here, a sheep so young
A foolish man who wants some fun
Until I met the wise shepherd’s son
And found my restlessness was done

A Little Lie

Have you ever told a little lie
Or one big fib?
Told it so you wouldn’t cry
In your little crib?

Spoke against the universe
Of your rotten head?
Eloquence, first stale then terse
Plotting on your bed

I saw the cosmos when I looked
Bigger than your heart
Bigger than the tales you’ve cooked
Thinking you were smart

I saw that you were really me
Such a little rat
How can I see reality
With my eyes inside my hat?

‘Behold!’ A voice from heaven shook
Quiet as a mouse
‘My cross and tomb, I bid thee look
And enter in my house’

Brought outside the prison wall
Of my little self
Scared, yet toward my savior’s calls
I run swiftly as an elf

I offer up my childish hand
Swallowed up by His
He leads me to the promised land
Larger still than this

A Little Yeast

A little bit of yeast
For the bread, for the dough
The greatest from the least
A magic show
For us a little grace
Say my thanks to my king
And gaze upon His face
As I sing

An Action That Destroys Itself

An action that destroys itself
A contradiction of life
Willful rebellion against the Truth
And against Good will lead to strife
Yet we pitiful creatures of blood and clay
Seek out such death still
Until we submit to the death of Jesus Christ
Submit to His holy Will
