Concluding Thoughts

All things that enter the world. leave
And all that falls has been up above
That which lasts, I do believe
Has to be caught in eternity's weave
Echo that which Truth, Beauty, Love

Drop By

West of the hill, in a lithe little gully
Neath a pine tree lies an elvish gate
Both square and circle it beckons 'enter'
And those who do have lost their fate
Weaving through short grass and tall trees
Avoiding giants, constantly irate
If you happen upon my humble cabin
I'll walk you in with a human gait

Even in the dark I wish to be
As clean and pure as St. Joe's lily
Also if I may (here goes)
For a faith like Mary's rose

Morning Bright

In bright day when the faeries rise
The blue moon sunk, neath rosy skies
Children play as to dispel the lies told by one who hates the light

The fresh mint air after a healthy rain
While one can see forever across the plain
And catch a ride on an angelic train for no longer shall fall the night

Loose and Curled

Loose and curled the animals sleep
And give the babe pleasant dreams
And Mary rests her head so deep
On the chest of a righteous man
Who silently thanks God for peace
And asks for strength to carry them
So that He will someday have death cease

O Emmanuel!

We, the slaves of the world and ourselves
We, the blind and lost, we plead
For freedom to raise our eyes to thee
To play unburdened in the hills and dells
Then you came
And angels sang when none else did
Of your name
Emmanuel, from us our bondage rid

O King of the Gentiles!

The fall of Adam's sons is stopped
Envy, fear halted, our mess is mopped
The enemy's plan was flipped then flopped
By the King of of Jews and Gentiles
The King of both races raises high
Man's dignity which had fallen to the sty
Let us attend as His coming is nigh
To the manger throne that still beguiles

O Rising Dawn!

And as the darkness seems to have won
And time so cold as to be frozen still
A cry calls up for death to be done
For a rising sun to exert his will
For cups of joy to overfill
From deepest trench to the most shallow rill
Light shall fill every canyon

O Key of David!

The world's desperate need of honest hope
Unfulfilled by promise breakers, false prophets
Stay undeterred, light hearted friends, keep your pockets
Free of the despairing ring and depressing mope
But call on the Key of David's promised king
The eternal rule of freedom, ending slavery
Those of His blood shall freely wear His livery
Dance in the sun! And with the angels sing!

 God bless,

O Root of Jesse!

On the barren desert of mankind
On the caked desolation of dried clay
Bereft of water, flowers, as the winds wind
Along the crowded easy way
Ask for Jesse's root to sprout
Within your heart from inside out
A sign for the lost and the hopeless and grieved
Drawing from eternal water, the bane of thirst
A hope for all who have believed
A flower of courage from the son born first

God bless,

O Lord!

In midst of the chaotic self-indulgence of men
Whose same voices self-righteously condemn
What's evil as good in fifty shades of black and white
Turn to the Lord's face, call upon His might
Whose every law frees self-tortured creatures
Every beatitude calls us down from the bleachers
So we might be children who can play once again
And call on our Father with holy "AMEN!"

God bless,

O Wisdom!

When reason runs the railroad all alone
And darkness is all the eye can see
When the lamp glass is black as sin and white as bone
Then call on Wisdom to rise in thee
The stars' light which blazes souls with glee
And calls from lowly bushes with her sweet tone
Who banishes the wisp and illuminates the sea
And guides those on any road to home

God bless,

Bitter Taste

A bitter juice is one whose flavor
Takes some age and guts to savor
Awakens those who need alertness
With a sour sacred curtness

So I sat today while tasting the bitter
Juice of homesickness amidst the glitter
Of celebrating a homeless babe's welcome to earth
Homesick for the place of my second birth

I've never been to nor seen this home
Blest instead this life to roam
Until Michael hears my Father's call
I'll endeavor to be standing tall

Playful Twilight

Playful twilight sparks abound and lead
By forests' pine, through mystic marshes' reed
As sunlight dims and home is lost in memory
The curiously astray learn how does darkness feed

Captured in fantastic signs in ways most plenary
Designs of wold and wood surround, wildness so free
A little of the magic stops to lightly plant a seed
With a voice as sweet as rose's scent sings the angel's queen Marie

Build Me a City

Every beam of light another beam
Every filled-in vale a Terra seam
Which is used to build a higher house
Used to fulfill our Father's dream

And all the darkness does is sit and grouse
Without even the courage of a mouse
To defend itself when in a corner trapped
All it does is mumble like a souse

The prophets have the path to heaven mapped
And every ounce of grace has been tapped
And every eye by joy will have been dabbed
When He comes and we shall worship enrapt

Sanity

I don't know what I'm doing
With reality so far ungluing
From the realms my head can traverse
My sanity riding in a hearse

I don't know much more
Than that what I know is a bore
Compared to what can be found
Within the most profound sound

I only know for certain
That the hanged man behind the curtain
Loves me despite my flaws
Which is the most difficult to accept of laws

That doctrine of unconditional love
(Which could only be known from above)
Is the only doctrine of concern to me
For it concludes my integrity

Christ Coming

Minstrels of majestic memory mention
Promises proposed by Power unparalleled in purity
About apocalyptic undertakings honored honestly
A beginning granted to a great age of God
By that Deity who decided to do away with death
Wholly humbling himself to human weakness
Sniping sin in suffering souls

The beginning of the final stages

Will the incarnation take place
Transforming from within

Happy Thanksgiving

There once was a boy who lived in a cabin
Who, when he grew up, knew the country was saggin'
Under a weight that our selfishness brewed
He established an annual day for gratitude
So that we might remember, remember that we
Aren't only reliant on those that we see
And that thanksgiving is what keeps us free
Let us be thankful for beer and turkey

Baking Cookies

Pour the milk, sift the flour
Beat the eggs until you're sour
Mix them with sugar and with power
Mix until homogenous

Spread the batter, lick the spoon
Lay out all the cookies of doom
They will be ready very soon
Ready to be eaten by us

Heat the oven, scorching hot
Put in the sheets, put in the lot
Be grateful for a dessert we've sought
Be grateful for the mess we muss

Soft as snow my soul falls

Who lifted me out of fear and haze
My gratitude will never cease

In a Balloon

In a balloon overlooking the forest
Rests air that is lighter than air
Looking for its invisible lair
Amongst the lightest and the poorest
Leaving behind the oaks and willows
The daisies through which the wind billows
The tulips that would be the envy of any florist

Colorful?

Encapsulating a soul in carbonite
Into a morass of black, grey, and white
Nary a color in hearing or sight
A deep dark mist that covers the light

Such a suspension can anyone kill?
Lift this monochromatic frill
For a soul is not meant to, in a vale, mill
But rather be a city on a hill

The first color to see is blood-red as the rose
Next an orange glow, then the yellow sun’s pose
Green trees, blue hopes, and indigo grows
And finally we’ll see the violet king’s clothes

All Good Things

The roots of the last tree reaches
The core of the first it breaches
Until the Chosen One beseeches
On behalf of all God's creatures

"Father!" cries the lion's pride
"Turn away from a destructive tide"
"Father! Father!" the lamb has cried
Within his cry the faithful abide

Down the fiery divine wrath
On the tainted wide smooth path
The faithful protected the lion hath
Those soaked by the lamb's blood bath

Ta Ta Ta

Ta ta ta go heaven's tears
(ta ta ta ta ta)
Lifting me out of my dread and fears
Out of the dark dog's maw

Ti ti ti on the roof
(ti ti ti ti ti)
With a surety as any proof
That men can be as free

Ta ta ta the angel's song
(ta ta ta ta ta)
Letting me drift ever along
Letting my stone heart thaw

Troubling

What troubles me, Lord, about this path
Is the madness of the very earth
That cannot be cleansed with a simple bath
Whose presence dampens even honest mirth

I cannot see, Lord, beyond the mist
Of my eyes that I have clouded in vanity
My ship always bucks with a list
As I sail away from my insanity

Lord, let me see, I beg of thee
That within your merciful heart the blood
May flow out healing as a sea
And make noble this base creature of mud

Root of All Evil

What has love of money done
For all the souls entrapped by luster?
What happens to them after the fun
By the demons is finished and done?
Do they have any wealth to muster?

But look an old woman in poverty gives all
She has, without reserve or regret
Ignoring money's alluring thrall
Responding instead to the divine call
She'll be rewarded when all is done and said

Vulgar Politeness

Polite is the meeting, polite the man
Which in the fleeting lively struggle
Attempts politely to arrest the action
Which seeks where Wisdom ran
For leaving a meeting for a woman
Goes against the polite plan

Vulgar is the eating, vulgar the tongue
Which in its seating within the soul
Corrupts that warm and gentle Wisdom
Into a song that's never sung
For leaving off pleasure to hear a woman
Is not where vulgarity is hung

Catholic the vision, and Catholic the heart
Which in its mission is common and noble
Lively as fire and gentle as rain
Plants a strong seed that will start
Growing to God in both man and woman
And burns the sin that keeps them apart

Prelude to a Starry Sky

Prelude to a starry sky
Filled with a warm embracing light
Lifting all up so high
Into the night

Every glittering twinkling dot
Gives a sweet smile as it sings
Holding back the entropic rot
That death brings

While the Moon sits as queen
And, as king, the Sun rises alert
The heavens governing everything
Made of dirt

Riddle down the Rabbit Hole

If I had another soul that would lift me off the ground
Take me on the road with a toe both filled and found
Heel to heel with living as the pavement I do pound
My lace in ribbon tied happily round and round
Why, my purpose would be fitting, my life's acheivement crowned
What am I?

On the Road I Saw a Friend

On the road I saw a friend
(And he was a walkin')
He beckoned me with a grin
(And we started talkin')
I noticed he was much more thin
He said it was a trend

We happened quick upon a corner
(As we were a walkin')
He took the left, I took the right
(As we finished talkin')
My steps had filled with vim and light
As if I were an Irish mourner

Healing

Beaten and kicked for speaking
The mind of the fallen and still
Desperately pleading until
The Master asks for a meeting

Though I have been thoroughly
Harmed into such a disabled
State I still with hope cradled
A longing to be healed fully

I beg without deserving any
Mercy yet repeatedly on
My knees I gave cries "Son
Of David! have pity" so many

I ask that I might see the grin
And visage of our king
Jesus, then He did bring
Sight and forgave my sin

Invisible Battles

Fierce is the wind that covets my hat
Yet steady my hand in preventing that
Quiet this battle as it is fought
Ignored by the rabble in the parking lot
(Though I see allies also accosted)
I enter the building with my hand frosted
Numbed by the terrors of invisible swords
Flung by warriors of the icy lords
Yet my hat and my hand have truly survived
As I to work have timely arrived

Bounded Onto the Road

Bounded onto the road, I step, I step
Breathing dust I wept
Under fiery sun, to the east I go, I go
Steps unsteady to and fro

With wooden beams I bear, I bear
To the Roman fair
Sand is dyed red, I bleed, I bled
Where I'll be dead

Every Debt

Every debt I have incurred
Every virtue I demurred
Every selfish choice and plot
All these have been bought
In rains of grace and blood
You took back this wretch of mud
And forgave this sorry ass
Fed me through each holy mass
I am yours and yours alone
Every breath and every bone

Open Heart

In the dark void of our minds
Lies a fear that harms and binds
But a lover surely finds
How to open up the heart

When we're our own core the devil grins
For the foolish clown wins our sins
When our sense of other slowly thins
And we close off our heart

So let us open eyes and hear
Of every friend and every peer
Who makes music on this lowly sphere
Where beats our heart

God bless,

Strive

May I strive, O let me strive
Under star song, under grace
As long as I am alive
May I strive to see your face

Before raving, let me be slaving
For the kingdom, my Lord, your Grace
Full of gratitude for my saving
I'll be behaving in this place

Let me not snipe with any gripe
Against any image of your face
In my heart let me hold no tripe
Of evil type in this race

May I strive, O let me strive
With the angels, with glory's trace
Fill me with the zeal and drive
May I strive to see your face

What Was Once Could Be

A subtlety hangs in the soul
Of what was once could be
A perfection that would make it whole
On all lands and seas

To this delightful integrity
Lies a blood-soaked road
Crossed by crosses to the city
That the Lord has hallowed

Mother, may I walk this path
Plead to your Son for us
Let meekness o'ercome our wrath
And chastity our lust

Ne'ermore a stranger in a shell
Rotting to time and sin
But in harmony as clear as bells
Light purifying within

Of steadying my soul

Playing pure puerile pastels on the paper
Elicits laughs lightly lilting across the lake

The Leaf Lets

The leaf lets the wind change the journey
But the end is still the ground
The direction is still down
For no matter how the leaf is turning
The leaf shall fall

The flower receives the sun's awakening
And the end is the sky
Where the sun sits high
The flower is giving no forsakening
Just growing tall

And never curse or destroy or worse
Lest it's you they blame

May I bless others with my hands

And the good news impart

May I bless others with my breath

Silent

Hold the praise, stop the applause
Take him back from out of death's jaws
For above our dreams and under our laws
We are silent now

Juggle the rocks, and tumble the rolls
With far more joy then burning coals
And yet, despite working toward our goals
We are silent now

Bending the knee, bending the heart
Bending our head is where we start
In silence, listening to what he shall impart
What he shall endow

Every lie a betrayal to me, who seeks
That which is real, whether knowable or not
To know everything, my aim beyond understanding
Every lie is against me, is a plot

Banshee

Under old bridges and over new tombs
A disquiet, a mist, a destruction looms
And pierces souls as strong as trees
And leaves rotting stones that freeze

A glum gloom that ghosts through the woods
Wily creatures run without their goods
A screech that holds all the sacred still
A banshee cry, who dies? Someone will

River

To the river and the rock I stroll
Casually, with humble air, I gleam
Passing softly by a faerie knoll
Carrying pen and mind and ream

Quietly with little flair I write
Of the dance of river grass
And yet swiftly my paper supply is light
And more time than I know does pass

So back from river and rock I walk
Satisfied humility on face and ream
Listening to the most wondrous talk
That lent my heart and eyes a gleam

Loyalty

On the field is loyalty
A creature that would never be
Without faith and hope that see
What thee hast given me

On the field I ask, my Lord
To smite my cold heart with thy sword

And heal me by thy blood, my Lord

On the field I live by thee
Please save my life most graciously
Grant me thy love eternally
Let me give thee my loyalty

Weird

Mildew sits and dreams of life
Upon a slice of bread
But its still stuck on a wall
And will be until its dead

The iron curtain bar with rings
Starts rusting in the air
But this is just the gist of things
And entirely fair

A very strange and somber poem
This is that I've been writing
But maybe a much richer loam
Will cause ideas to come biting

In a Cave of Shadows

In a cave of shadows, lost, is the mind of Adam's kind
Unclear as to what meadows are and no hard answers can it find
But a Jewish handyman can clear the eyes and ears of sin
So one can hear a melody of angels praising and lauding Him
And see all of reality in its awesome terrifying shroud
And think, this wonder is what life means, and praise the God of gods aloud

The Thing About Dogs

Llamas might carry a green suitcase on Mars
Unicorns may chomp on white chocolate bars
But the thing about dogs that is so clearly canine
Is when they drink water out of a grown man's beer stein

Queen ants should enjoy both sugar and salt
Kangaroos could jump on bright purple asphalt
But the things about dogs that makes them so dear
Is how expressive they are with their tongue and their ears

They have only to look and rest at your side
To lift you out of your misery after you've cried

God bless,

Pondering Angels

A dance on the floor with the light fading in
Pondering angels pray
A festival of melancholy mixing with tin
In his eternal lay
Dig! Dig! away the dismay
As pondering angels pray

A toast to the bards as the violin hums
On this auspicious day
A cake filled with tears as much as with crumbs
Alone upon a tray
Dig! Dig! away with dismay
As pondering angels pray

God bless,
