A whistle ending in a bang
A clear metallic note that rang
Another and another clang
While all the men working sang
Another spike into the earth
Another rail for rich mens' girth
Another strike for progress's birth
Another hammer with bloody mirth
A swing with angelic reserve
Takes the train around a curve
So that machine and magic may serve
The men who have such stubborn verve
