Angels Can Fly

Muscles stretched or arms and wings
Flapping once, my heart and air sings
No longer bound by the world's petty things
Taking myself lightly

Over reason, over logic, into Truth's skies
Into the universe not bound by narrow lies
An infinity my head cannot begin to comprise
My soul singing brightly

Being Fruitful

How many times should a tree be saved
Bearing fruit both bitter and depraved?
Growing fallow and spreading disease
How many times saved for such as these?

As many as a dozen, to whimsy, as needed?
How many times ere the plot is reseeded?
How many fruits could have grown sweet and plump
If we had cut down this tree and burned the stump?

But you ask one more chance for this barren twig
Which has on its branches not a single fig
Alright, one more, just one more year
And if there's no fruit, I'll make it clear

It shall be cut down and every fiber shall burn
And another tree shall be given its turn

Water Song

Wreaths of light in falling snow
Moon so bright o'er clouds below
And there in shadows dancing sweet
Is the naiad of our little creek
Humming music with inhuman form
Sending peace to calm the storm

Necessity Begets

A distressed chain of plumes
Tie me to clouds underneath the sea
And anxiety blooms into a green painted tree
That sense of loss
Is why I need the cross

Ouchie Booboo

Let the pain unfold its tone
Though those who hear it are alone
Christ feels the scars and sanity's loss
And beckons to join Him at His cross

Stumble

Stumble on the mountain
Though in day, I barely see
The summit, but feel the pain
Of my arms and heart and knees
Stumble up the vicious path
Stumble forward, stumble back
Until revealed to eye and heart
The wisdom that I lack

Dignity and Pride

Glancing at a small acorn
Thinking of the dignity of the oak
Needing humility to form
Growing that, the seed's prideful shell, it broke

Quiet

In the morning darkness's ritual silence
When memories of dreams still show defiance
Upon prayer is needed reliance
To fortify against the daily tyrants
To keep calm whilst the soul keeps silence

Fill of Emeralds

I've heard of carrots having carotene
To give the skin an orange-like sheen
But to have one's eyes be so green
On a blarney full of emeralds one must be weened

Dry

In periods of drought, of dryness, I ask
If this ship can sustain the wreck
The hunger and longing for horizon, my task
Without joy, I drink a wine too sec
And gaze with sadness at the day's beginning
And Lady Luna's silent departure
And pray to heaven I will not be sinning
That my hands will be clean, and my heart pure
In periods of dryness, I ask, sweet Mary
That your Son will lead me whenever I tarry

But He Did Not

Alone amongst dust and sand
The remains and fruits of men
Alone in a foreign land
And weak, given to sin

Within hunger I strive to fill
And cannot so I drink swill
Eat dirt and stone? Yes, I will
But he did not

Within attention, fame so grand
Strive that every eye be on my hand
I fear their selfish love's disband
But he did not

Within power I need not need
Force the most beautiful hand to feed
Cry with joy as they beg and plead
But did not

In the desert he was not alone
Because I love him, I atone

Hunger

Stomach growls, muscles weaken
My entire being seeking
The center of mass which is beacon
And calms my bodies weeping

Ash Wednesday

Broken wisps and fettered dreams
Broken minds do unseemly things
Broken bodies wither and die
A broken man on a tree lifted high
Burns the breath and singes the psyche
Lets the desert wandering try me

Chinese New Year!

Clever is the capuchin
Cheery is the chimp
Below the baboon babbles
(little loopy limp)
Gorgeous gorillas glance
Approvingly at apes
The monkeys marvel, make a moon
Then quite quickly give escape

Song Walk Rain

Rain drops are a joy as I walk
As I walk the mountains sway so I sing
I sing of joyous things in the rain
Under rain I walk to my king

A king that rain and snow should praise
Whom my bones and weak heart glory gladly
No matter worldly events happening happily or sadly
I will be grateful to my king all my days

Typical Conversation

"Step forward towards me"
"But, Lord, there is no step I see?"
"Step forward towards me"
"But, Lord, please have mercy"
"Step forward, step sure"
"But" "STEP" "... yes, sir"
"Go forward with my love"
"Thanks be to God above"

Take a Breath

Merely dancing on the deck
Glancing aft and lilting fore
The wind picks up the wreck
And assembles a new door

Appeals

Pealing bells over the range
Peeling apples over the range
Just a jolt and I think it strange
Let me think
I should've done it over the sink

Moonlit Powder

Delight on the face
Eyes wrinkled bright
Shining with grace
Revel in hope
Underneath starlight
On a ski slope
