Colors

Geranium blooms have colors that lift
The stems of lilies have colors that grow
Roses have colors that may heal a rift
But tulips have all the colors I know

Night Haiku

Why is the sky dark?
Yet even then there are stars
Glimpses of the truth

Turn

Laugh like the world is ending
For it's just beginning
Cry for tomorrow will come
With the rising of the sun

Happy Thanksgiving

Another step another job
Another work accomplished
I give thee my gratitude, my Lord
Until thy work is finished

Wimper

With a whimper and a whoosh
My fortitude has fallen far
Swiftly sans the swoosh
Instead it's a stuttering sinking star
With a whimper and a whoosh
I need you Lord once more

Wilted Leaves and Flourished Weeds

Wilted leaves and flourished weeds
Surround an ancient aspen tree
The bird of sorrow rests and pleads
To the heavens just for me

The End

When from the cup the last drop falls
When from the sky the last ray falls
When from eons the last second falls
When the trumpet calls

Will I mock the one beside me
Will I defend the one beside me
Will I beg the one beside me
'Please remember me'

Breakfast

Up at a counter on a solitary barstool
Sat a man solitarily named
And in a voice clear and unashamed
Ordered two eggs and some gruel
With a smile that gave a renewal
In a scene that Rockwell might've framed
In a transcendence of the golden rule
The waitress's smile made gold ashamed

Evening Song

Darkness falls earlier than I expected tonight
I remain standing with just the wind as my friend
I remain gazing through the sky without end
Rapt in the song of the moon's and stars' light

My friend the wind speaks through the trees
Raising a smile from my heart to my eyes
Laughing in sorrow with my friend's sighs
Of his adventures since he was just a wee breeze

But sadly the darkness bids us to part
And I find myself thinking of him as I walk
And of the great secrets we shared in our talk
Secrets that ne'er will be leaving my heart

Darkness fell earlier than I expected tonight
Allowing my soul to hear and grow bright

God bless,

Impatient

drip, drip, drop
flows my time that will not stop
will not rush and will not cease
but drip, drip, drip that ruins peace

All at once too fast and slow
Which forces me to a stop to grow

Gnostic Heights

Higher up my tower
And looking at the vast
Amount of the world I contemplate
So like a pea on my plate
The height I have amassed

Yet if I looked down
To see those like bees after pollen
Who took apart my base
Brick by brick my place
I'd know why I had fallen

Boiled

Controlled by flames, constrained by steel
A splash of water for my meal
Containing eggs, and noodles too
What can water do for you?

I Need to Breathe Again Today

Strident tones and enchanting whispers
Attract, distract me from the work of thought
The tilling of the tracts of ideas, musings, being
Of who I am, for whom I've been bought
And to where I will, am, and have sought

God bless,

Silver Discs

Solid slender silver discs within simple stacks
And frenzied fists fill the fickle fettered frog
That golden globe and groggy glob gallant
Poise 'gainst pressured probe that a piper's apt to preach

A Fear of Pain

A fear of pain, a fear of doom
A fear of when devils may loom
A fear of what lies within a tomb
These fears are nought for the Groom

Rather courage to stand with one another
To serve a King who is like a Father
To love a Savior like a Brother
To treat His mother like our mother

For our bodies may decay
But if our souls don't rot away
From sins transgressed in a selfish way
We might welcome Resurrection Day

God bless,

Calm

Possibilities that flow from milk
Or honey, or maybe gin
That comfort smooth as silk
Anxiety within

Reunion

Colanders and hamburgers
Simple sample frankfurters
With the shortie shirkers
Running all around

Barbecue and rabbit stew
Uncle Tommy's chile too
Golden oldies and shiny new
Family about the ground
