An attempt at a poetic story thinggummie
I happened to meet a fellow traveler
About the time my quest began
Like me he prized duty and valor
And our time together was quite grand
He told me he was duty bound
To search for an invisible treasure
From west to east from sky to ground
He must take every measure
This transparent gem for which
He must recover for his clan
Has no color, texture, or pitch
Has never been seen by any man
I asked him how he was to find it
If he couldn't sense a single part
He said that he would use his wit
And store the treasure in his heart
Then I asked if I could help search
He said I had already done enough
The treasure had found its perch
He smiled and said his quest was rough
It was over when you offered your help
For I searched for the sincerity of man
Stolen when mankind was but a whelp
By the serpent's trick were we thus damned
Now to my father I must return
For joy have I found on this earth
My heart in sacrifice will burn
For an honest man has proved its worth
God bless,

Haiku stations of the cross (part 2)
What grief what sadness
Should be made for your children
Please do not worry
A little longer
Though fatigued and exhausted
Prostrate upon ground
A mere man naked
All possessions were taken
Gambled to strangers
Ferric suffering
Refusing to escape pain
Hung upon a tree
The tree of life's fruit
Grotesquely does it hang down
Without any breath
Immaculate heart!
What God gave He took away
Love left in your arms
All men accept death
From ashes only ashes
And from dust to dust
(part 1 is here)
God bless,

Trinity Sonnet
Glory, honor, and praise to God our Father
Our rock, the ultimate cause, who formed us all
Forgives the debts of those who love the other
Breaks the stone made hearts, the selfish wall
Eternal praise and glory to God the Son
Incarnate Word and mysterious Paschal feast
Whose sacrifice brings us to the One
And sent us to serve the greatest and the least
Give laud and praise to God the Holy Ghost
The Spirit who guides and sanctifies the Church
Who causes our daily death, that in Christ we'll boast
And in humble hearts counsels from a holy perch
Infinite and endless praise to the One in Three
Let us worship forever the Triune Deity
(Much harder than I thought it'd be)

Look to the pole.
Are you weary?
Are you dreary?
Are you a suffering soul?
Then look to the pole.
Are you battered?
Are you tattered?
Is illness taking its toll?
Then look to the pole.
For those afraid
And those unpaid
And all whose lives have gotten droll
Look to the pole.
The pole in the past
Could not last
Then the Man came with an everlasting goal.
He'd be hung, on the pole.
So those who are dry
And those in darkness lie
There is hope, no matter what your loss
Just look at God on the cross.

Doombells
Danger and duty, the doombells go ding dong
The nefarious nimrod nettles the singing knight
To prevent the pretty princess perilous escape
The lizard letting loose flaming liquid orally
Chivalry ventures towards venomous victory
The bells then break by knights blade covered by blood
Man and woman defeating ugliness
Causing darkness to become less

Haiku stations of the cross (part 1)
Without blame, condemned
A man, a God, a prophet
Our guilt on our king
Pain is accepted
Embraced, with the emptiness
The cross fulfilling
Weakness, weakness, weak
Shame to stumble processing
Solemnly humble
O virgin Mary!
His suffering on your heart
Excruciating
Omnipotence begs
Asking for help from Simon
A brother to help
Veronica wipes
Her kindness and caring love
Was returned with thanks
Fatigued and weary
Though halfway there faltering
A fallen angel
God bless,

A thoughtful haze
A thoughtful haze
Of grey and blue
Phlegmatic daze
Melancholic dew
Sanguine plots
Choleric knaves
From ink blots
On parched waves
An adventure here
A romance now
The waters clear
For fire's bow
On earth we run
This air surrounds
A library's fun
With silent sounds

What is it!? It's a doodle, not abstract, not anything. Not even at the level of those inkblots in psychiatry offices. I couldn't think of anything to draw, so I doodled and had fun doing it, so there.
But if you think you know what it is, feel free to comment. I won't be offended by being wrong.

Easy the yoke
I saw in large what the angel said with song
A dreadful dirge dutifully derelict in form
Pleading with grief to follow and join along
A perilous path prepared to head through the storm
I followed as one whose tail wags for the child
Wearily weakened by woes and full of dread
Though greatly afeared of forces speedily wild
With sluggish stone steps sleeping slow as the dead
Yet still the tune danced as Hamelin’s piper of old
Giving great strength gracefully guiding my path
With every breath I grow more joyful and bold
Closer, so close, am I coming to calamitous wrath
Once through what will I find? Treasure or joke?
But still this burden be light and easy the yoke.
God bless,

Laetare Sunday!
Well on Laetare (translates to (more or less) rejoice (I have it on good authority by people who know more latin than I do (which is a lot of people))) Sunday this year our old testament readings talks about the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple (see picture), the Babylonian captivity, and subsequent return to Israel. Do you have whiplash? Chronicles can do that to you.
Glad to see you survived yesterday. And if you didn't, glad to see you're in heaven (or purgatory, after all reading this blog could be punishment for

Yellow-green little muppet
Older than many wars
Degobah's residential wizard
And master of the Force

Aliens all 'round
Rebellion has need
Walker of the sky
Again at the core
Revolving are the Jedi
Swiftly goes the war

Evening beckons
The evening beckons forth a bloody bath
That washes mountains, valleys, trees, and seas
Just red and black on every open path
Impressing all mankind onto their knees
The orb that send us light goes down to die
A bird now ends its flight onto a nest
The wind and branches breathing out a sigh
All moving creatures slow to take a rest
The pricks of light just born from recent death
Too numerous to count with human minds
Are singing songs not sung with air or breath
About the freedom that removes all binds
And so dies all our grief and every strife
And with the morn shall rise new hope and life
God bless,

Rejection prayer
O, Lord, a door just slammed
A path no longer freed
My view has panned
For a way that meets my need
O, Lord, my heart is pained
My investment has been lost
My confidence drained
Yet with grace my anger is tossed
My Lord, I thank thee
For allowing me to fail
Strength and courage grant me
In choosing another trail

Pigs
Patriarch intolerable
Gastrically sinful
But our souls aren't durable
Without our lives graceful
Just dregs
Lollipops and soda pops
Sugar salt and food that's hot
Our senses do not have the stops
We become a slave, a sot
Just dregs
Starving for something real
Willing to undergo trial
Longing for even a simple meal
Of bread and wine style
Just dregs
Daily calling and begging
Deeply fearful of where we're heading
To forego our sex and kegging
To arrive at the Prince's wedding
Not just dregs
God bless,

Seven random haikuified links
So I heard about 7 quick takes Friday and about 3 and 1/2 timeouts Tuesday and I wanted to have some fun...
So here are 7 links, with a haiku describing what is but a click away. So please take this as an inconvenience rightly considered.
Many colored coat
True predictions frees the slave
Tenants kill the Son
Elementally
Education with humor
G. and S. Pirates
Don't try this at home
If the mind is literal
Not metaphoric
Somewhat indulgent
To those who kneel before God
Dying painfully
Shiny and shiny
A resolutionary
New Apple product
Anonymously
Pages were eaten with hate
Restored by angels
From Belgium storming
A Jesuit priest forming
The big bang theory

His feet go on
Parody of Sonny and Cher's "The beat goes on"
CHORUS:
His feet go on, His feet go on
Angels singing praise on the narrow lane
La de da de de, la de da de da
Against the merchants He did rage, uh huh
History has turned the page, uh huh
Always doing the right thing, uh huh
In the manger is our newborn king, uh huh
Chorus
Crucifiction was His part, uh huh
His mother crying broke His heart, uh huh
And with His blood He won the eternal war
His sacrifice did put to rest our score
Chorus
And every Sunday the Church does reminisce
Judas did betray Him with a kiss
People keep going faster all the time
While He cries "hey brother, have you got a dime"
Chorus
God bless,

Fight
Dark smudge all a blur
On horizon unfit
For ladies with fur
Or a gentleman's wit
Too dry
In sunshine it grows
Frozen and black
Undaunted by woes
Strung without slack
No ply
A beast with two heads
All clothed so dark
At side shiny with leads
Waiting for a mark
Death nigh
A street full of dust
The beast rides in
One man with trust
Marked with tin
Soft sigh
The beast separates
One body now two
Tension creates
Tin man walks true
Noon high
Half beast 'gainst tin heart
Generals fight
Each play their part
With thunderous might
Blood dry
God bless,

Prayer for healing
O Brother who leads me through darkest paths
Take the pain inflicted upon me
By disease, by wounds, by weariness
Close my eyes so that I may see thee

I lay in bed dying slowly
My soul is racked, is scarred, is tired
Please help this one who is lowly
Whether to die or to heal

Personhood questions
What is a person?
Are you a person?
Why are you a person?
Is it because you are human?
In whole or in part?
What other factors are involved?
If humans die are they no longer persons?
So are humanity and life the only two factors involved?
Is there another?
If there isn't, then is it true that when any human has life they are a person?
At the moment of conception what happens?
When a sperm and an egg meet do they create a full human DNA genetic sequence?
Is that genetic sequence unique from its parents?
So at the moment of conception are we human?
Are we alive?
As soon as conception happens do we grow? Do we intake energy and expend it? Do we start a continual chain reaction until death?
Does that not make the moment of conception the first point at which we are both human and alive?
If there are only two factors involved in the establishment of personhood, humanity and life, then is not the moment of conception the beginning of personhood?
If it isn't, how would we know?
If there is another factor to being a person what can it be?
God bless,

What a drag
What a drag, to be lagging
Finding the more important things in life
Love of a red bar and a blue disc
Will only bring a cold unbending strife
What is more important, pain or pleasure?
The wrong question entirely is being asked
Neither are the goal, both the risk
For goodness you can, in either one, be basked
What would you do if you could rule?
Controlling people like puppets and pawns
Would you be happy, or wish to be whisked
Off to places with more beautiful dawns
What a care, to be liked
Bounding opinions without thought
Ever fearful of a soft tut or tsk
Your mind and soul left to rot
Hiked on a pole is freedom for all
Pool of blood which buys us life
Measure of Love too big to count
Dragging us away from strife
God bless,
