Sinking Ship

Vessel drooping down
Beneath Poseidon's crown
This is, on the whole
How I feel about my soul
And yet a simple prayer
Lifts my heart into the air.

Battery

             Positive
That   the   charge  within
Screams a shout, 'we live'
This   bio-chemical   spin
On lightning take and give
Ever tween max and min
Holding energy in a sieve
As    a    sacrificial     bin
Til empty in the definitive
Used up and dead, el fin
             Negative

Assuredly asinine

As assuredly asinine as I am
So feverishly fallow with fervor
Veering viciously into viewing
Death and doom and despair

Helpless and hapless a hero
Wimpy, weary, yet warned
A gracious and generous God
Saves this scion through His Son

Train

What goes around
And yet not round
With clamorous sound
Along the ground
It is a train
Is it insane?
Along a track
With clickity clack
And yet lack
What goes back

Ripple Riding Down the Roof

Ripples riding down the roof
The younger water elves prance
While I glimpse an angel's sword
I'm dreaming of a giant's dance

The mystic rhythm soothes a soul
Tired from the day's purgatorial proof
The Prince of Angels orchestrates
Ripples riding down the roof

Riddled Poem

Having me will help you when you're lost
Unless the birds eat your trail
My sacrifice becomes the essence of the cross
Without blood or nail
What am I?

Answer will be posted next Tuesday (July 23rd).

Fairness is fine

Fairness is fine
But like a gourmet
Most of us dine
Not in that way

Fairness is measured
Cold and well thought
Not warm or feathered
Tis not as it ought

So love with a fire
Burned deep in the bone
Charity's desire
Man not alone

Enjoying the laborous way
Strength from God's lot
Trial is a blessing today

Dearth of Light

Dearth of light
That warmth is what I lack
Darkness
The cold upon my back
And nothing I can do, can bring me close to you

Sear my eyes
That is why my eyes are shut
Open eyes
Hand pulls me out of my rut
Submit my life to yours, for light shall open doors

God loved us into being
We love God in response
In this way we are singing

Give a flower to a special girl
Give a rose to Mary
A small kindness, a giant swirl
A gentle love to carry

First Theological Virtue: Faith

In truth do we, the seekers of knowledge, walk
For truth we fight as soldiers in a war
By faith do we, the holders of knowledge, talk
And seek to find the truth all the more

In truth our hands shall work to imitate,
Create a work as close to truth as can be
And by our voice the truth shall ne'er abate
Our truthful hands shall set the prisoners free

We march together, the beating of our feet
With choral song and shouts the truth lives on
Our unity shall become the enemy's defeat
As truth rings on and on and on and on

The wearers of truth shall only ever weep
Until the Father of Lies defeated sleeps

Prepare

Are the preparations complete?
Do you know what you should do?
Walking on your own two feet
To a town to show the truth

Let the traveling then abate
And stay in only one home
But if instead of love, they hate
Dust off your feet and go on to roam

Third Human Virtue: Fortitude

When the level of danger
Is at high altitude
Be stranger and stranger

When all cry 'Do bad!'
