The pain of whips that you felt
Preserved my life right now
The mocking voices you were dealt
Have led me to your feet to bow

The sting of death that hurt sweet Mary
Whilst you were humiliated on a tree
Have drawn me deeper into hands that carry
Into your heart that dearly loves me

Let me have faith in your suffering
Let me have hope in your pain
And I will, with love enough, sing
Of how you removed my sinful stain

For until and beyond my final breath
Let me have your love whilst mocking death

A Step Over Pebbles

A step over pebbles
On a bridge made of sand
Makes basses and trebles
Avoid nearby land

For singing too loudly
Of truth and of love
Might bring fall to those proudly
Standing above

Many can ramble
About building on stone
But a true fool will gamble
In a sandy off-tone

Sing bravely my brothers
Whether noble or not
Virtue will slumber
If we leave it to rot

And to those worms that whine
Your death will come slowly
By the divine
Amongst the lowly
