A religious parody of "Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel
Hello Mary my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
For a depression softly creeping
Within my soul has been steeping
And the thorn that was planted in my heart
Now takes a part
In the sound of praying
In restless dreams I walk alone
Far off the path your son has shown
But the angel took my hand and stayed
And kept awake until I obeyed
So that the demons wouldn’t have, my body, my soul, my all
Under thrall
Gone from the sound of praying
Under your patient care I am
Given to you by the lamb
While he hung dying upon the tree
He showed his everlasting love for thee
With every painful breath he gave you comfort ’til he died
With a last sigh
And the sound of praying
Though fool I am, I know, I know!
The love I have for him does grow
The words he spoke still do teach me
His miracles still do reach me
And even the pain from every one of my sins
Draws me within
To the sound of praying
When every knee and nation fall
Every voice with praise shall call
Upon the presence of the holy name
That freed us from the devil’s deadly game
Dear mother Mary, with your son beheld by all
Silence falls
Then starts the song of praying
God bless,
>P<
