No matter how long the road
Or how long my back has been turned
Or how far time has slowed
I can't forget the one I spurned
Perhaps if I understood your pain
Or grasped the ability to repent
But no, I've spent my time in vain
To distract myself from what you meant
At the end of the rope called self-destruct
At the bottom of the barrel called the world
Seeing every last virtue, plucked
And my old straight back, curled
I've erred, messed up, I've sinned
Against heaven, and against you
My arrogance dried up and thinned
Whilst my need for my father grew
God bless,
