Thought of a Repentant Fool

A ring of thorns cut the hand that wove them
But more pain is inflicted on the head that wore them
A crown of our sin we gave you, and then mocked you
Just moments before we had sincerely praised you
Now your dignity is in shreds and your body weakened by us
We sinners, the ones you came to save, betrayed you
You look at us with pity, our ire rises, our guilt revealed
All the darkness in our hearts dragged into the light, that we may kneel,
Bow, beg mercy and forgiveness for our lack of love
