Two Thousand Million Stories

A wall, the tower heightens awe and fear
Two thousand million stories do surround
The aisle endless, breathless still we peer
And gape at magic cages leather bound

Hands reach and grasp that wildness from its ledge
When freed, sweet music resonates and plays
Transforms the soul which nobly gives a pledge
True wonder fills the heart in myriad ways

And when we leave shall these adventures end?
The faeries weep? And dragons' treasure capped?
The lovers hearts stay broken, never mend?
And murder left unsolved? New worlds unmapped?

Can we leave and end the adversary?
The guardian answers "Yes, it's a library."

God bless,
